Marker Regulations

General Regulations:

  • Placement of markers and monuments are under the direct supervision of the Sexton. Any marker or monument placed without notification and approval of the Sexton shall be removed and the owner notified.

  • No more than one Slant Face, Hickey or Monument Marker per grave is permitted.

  • All markers (except Veteran) to be granite. Other materials may be considered with approval of the Sexton

Multiple (Intended for more than two graves): Must be approved by the Sexton. Submit plan for approval. Single Flush Markers may be used with a monument intended for more than two graves.

Williams Cemetery Marker Placement Regulations

Slant Faced and Hickey (Bevel) Markers:

Single Grave - Centered at head of grave, facing pathway.
Double Grave - Centered at head of graves, facing pathway.

Flush Markers:

Single Grave - Centered at head of grave, facing pathway.
Double Grave - Centered at head of graves, facing pathway.

When used with Existing Single Grave Flush Marker - One Single Flush Marker (maximum length of 24"), centered at foot of grave, facing head of grave is permitted. *
When used with Existing Double Grave Flush Marker - Maximum of two Single Flush Markers (each with a maximum length of 24"), centered at foot of grave, facing head of grave is permitted. *

When used with Single Slant Faced or Hickey (Bevel) Markers - One Single Flush Marker, centered at foot of grave, facing head of grave is permitted. *
When used with Double Slant Faced or Hickey (Bevel) Markers - Maximum of two Single Flush Markers (each with a maximum length of 24"), centered at foot of grave, facing head of grave is permitted. *

When used with Single Monument - One Single Flush Marker, centered at foot of grave, facing head of grave is permitted. *
When used with Double Monument - Maximum of two Single Flush Markers, (each with a maximum length of 24"), centered at foot of grave, facing head of grave is permitted. *
When used with Multiple Monument - Placement of Single Flush Markers (maximum of two per grave) must be directed by Sexton.

Veteran Markers:

When used as only marker - Installed as Flush Marker, centered at head of grave, facing pathway.
When used with existing marker - Installed as Flush Marker, centered at foot of grave, facing head of grave.
Optionally, attached to the back of a Slant Faced Marker or Monument

Monument Markers:

Single Grave - Centered at head of grave, facing pathway.
Double Grave - Centered at head of graves, facing pathway.
Multiple (more than two) Graves - Must be approved by the Sexton. Submit plan for approval.

North-East Cemetery Marker Placement Regulations

Double Grave - Centered at head of graves, facing west.

When used with Existing Double Grave Flush Marker - Maximum of two Single Flush Markers (each with a maximum length of 24"), centered at head of grave, facing west is permitted.
